| Vintage: 2009Variety: RieslingArea: Hawkes BayWinemaker: Tim Preston and Paul DawickAlcohol: 13%Tasting Note:The grapes for this single-vineyard wine were grown in the coastal Meeanee district of Hawkes Bay, where cooling sea breezes bring out the best in this aromatic variety. Harvest occurred on 3rd of April. The juice was cool fermented in stainless steel tank with selected yeast to emphasise the aromatic fresh fruity nature of this variety, followed by three months lees aging to enhance complexity, with bottling on 10th of September, under screwcap closure. This fragrant, medium-dry Hawkes Bay Riesling exudes attractive lemon/lime and rock melon aromas and flavours, with delicate spring blossom notes. The palate is full bodied yet smooth and silky with nice length and a clean, crisp finish. Already delicious, it will soften with age, developing a lovely perfumed and honeyed marmalade richness. |
