Mills Reef Sauvignon Blanc 2009
Vintage: 2009Variety: Sauvignon BlancArea: Hawkes BayWinemaker: Tim Preston and Paul DawickAlcohol: 14%Tasting Notes:The grapes for this delicious Hawkes Bay wine were grown on the relatively cooler coastal strip in Meeanee and harvested between 26th March and 2nd April at an average of 23 Brix. Following pressing off skins, the juice was cool tank fermented to emphasise the classic fresh fruity character of this variety and aged for 3 months prior to bottling on September 9th under screwcap. An array of aromas delight the senses: lush tropical melon, ripe peaches and apricots, gooseberry, lime, and icing sugar meringue, delicately perfumed with jasmine. The palate is smooth, round and weighty, with an appealing creaminess carrying a cocktail of passionfruit, ripe pineapple, gooseberry and rock melon flavours. Tingly acidity, nice length and balanced sweetness complete the experience. |
