Reserve Pinot Gris 2009
Vintage : 2009 Varieties: Pinot Gris Area: Hawkes Bay Winemaker: Tim Preston & Paul Dawick Alcohol: 13.5% Tasting Notes: The grapes for this cooler-climate loving variety were sourced from the coastal Meeanee district in Hawkes Bay and harvested at an average of 23 Brix on 22 March 2009. The juice was fermented in older neutral oak barrels, to enhance palate weight and mouthfeel. Three months ageing followed in the same barrels, with bottling on 13 August 2009 under screwcap closure. This rich and weighty wine is made in an off-dry style with vibrant acidity and pronounced lemon/lime, pear, dried apricots, orange peel and subtle lychee flavours. Deliciously textured and smooth, it has great length and a soft nutty finish.
